Our history
With great insistence and patience, the Child and Adolescent’s Center develops its initial vision by constantly enriching it. And it still continues, remaining loyal to the principles which defined its establishment, despite the difficulties of our times, committed to improve the quality of life of the people who receive its services.
1996
A group of 14 recognized mental health professionals in Chios visioned the foundation of a nonprofit Organization, The Child and Adolescent’s Center. The lack of an appropriate therapeutic framework throughout the North Aegean area, suitable for children and teenagers with mental health problems and for their families, has been the motive to put forward this venture. The first step was made with the Child and Adolescent’s Center Department, which operates as a first degree mental health unit, providing specialized therapies for children and teenagers with development and emotional mental disorders and for their families as well.

Since November 2005, the Child and Adolescent’s Center, is a Specially Certified Institution of Social Care Services (code number 1314AEN11097068N/0231), according to the decision Deputy Minister of Health and Social Solidarity(1453τ.β/21-10-05).

The Mobile Mental Health Unit is a reality and works under the supervision of the Child and Adolescent’s Center. It is part of the program “Psychargos”. It provides mental health services in the community for the residents of the islands of Chios, Inusses and Psara. It holds an established license (number Υ5β/Γ.Π.οικ.147422/13-10-2008) and an operation license Υ5β/Γ.Π.82961/10-11-2014, according to the decisions of the Deputy Health Minister.

The Child and Adolescent’s Center plays a leading part in Athens too, providing specialized services to people with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
The Day Center for Teenagers with Autism in West Attika “Stin Avli tou Kosmou” (In the Courtyard of the World), is located in Peristeri and works as a unit of therapeutic care and enhancement of psycho-social rehabilitation of teenagers and young adults (aged 15-22), with Autism Spectrum Disorders. It is part of the program “Psychargos” and holds the establishment license (number Υ5β/Γ.Π.οικ82393/18-6-2009) and the operation license (number Υ5β/Γ.Π.82959/10-112014), according to the decisions of the Deputy Health Minister.

“Helianthos”, a Specialized Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Center for Children and Teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families, starts operating at the Peristeri area.

The Adults’ Mental Health Department is established in Chios. It provides specialized services, adapted to the personal and special needs of people over 18 with mental difficulties and development disorders.
2015
In order to promote research activity and scientific documentation, the Scientific Documentation and Education Department (TETE), starts working. A further objective of the Department is to develop a strategic and policy education at the Child and Adolescent’s Center, which involves not only the staff of the organization but also the development of new educational services for certain target groups.

The Special Unit of Mental Health “Oselotos” is established in Athens. Its aim is to deal in a holistic way with law-offending behaviors of teenagers and young adults with mental disorders and psycho- social problems, by providing mental health services and psycho-social support.
