Disabled Pioneers inArtificial intelligence
The project "Disabled Pioneers in Artificial Intelligence" will last 11 months (February 2024 – January 2025) and is implemented by the SciFY company and the Child and Adolescent Center (KPE) with the support of the Ioannis S. Latsis Foundation and the Metlen Company .
The purpose of the project is:
- Developing PWD professional skills to train Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems through a process known as annotation.
- The investigation of the terms and conditions that must be met so that PWDs can be employed in this sector.
- The empowerment of PWD support bodies, in order to offer new innovative services in the field of IT.
- The pilot test of an annotation project with an employer (EKEFE “Demokritos”)
To achieve these goals:
- we will develop a training program for professionals from PWD support organizations in IT and annotation.
- we will train professionals from disability support agencies in TN and annotation.
- we will organize and implement a pilot training of 12 PWDs in annotation.
- we will implement a pilot annotation program with an employer (EKEFE "Demokritos").
- we will analyze this pilot action to shape the terms and conditions to grow the project in an effective way.
- we will communicate the project to raise awareness among target groups, in collaboration with supporters.
Groups - Objectives
he target groups are divided into three categories .
A. The direct beneficiaries of the project , which include:
- Disabled: Disabled people served by the Child and Adolescent Center and related agencies [Early Intervention, Panhellenic Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Vocational Reintegration (PEPSAEE)], who will be trained in annotation and develop the relevant skills.
- NGO: Capacity building in 3 Non-Profit Organizations (Child and Adolescent Center, Early Intervention, Panhellenic Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Vocational Reintegration (PEPSAEE)) which will develop knowledge and skills for the provision of PWD support services in annotation. In addition, the AMKE SciFY will develop expertise on annotation by PWDs.
- Research Foundation : The "Demokritos" Research Center (EKEFE "Dimokritos"), which will be served by the annotation provided by trained PWDs.
B. The indirect beneficiaries of the project, i.e. PWDs and their families, PWD support organizations and potential employers who will be informed about the new possibilities presented as a result of the project.
C. The general public, in the context of communication of the project.
Actions of the project
- Training of mental health professionals from PWD support organizations in TN, so that they can then be PWD trainers in the annotation process.
- 3-month training for 12 PWDs in annotation.
- Implementation of a project with real employer data at the "Demokritos" ERC, where the annotation will be carried out by those trained annotators who can meet the needs of such a project after the end of the basic training.
- This pilot action will be used to shape the terms and conditions in order to grow the project in an effective way.
